The Hacktoberfest was coordinated by the Ingressive Campus Ambassadors and Developer student clubs team (DSCYabatech and DSCGracepoly) which was one of the exceptional events it has had as it was the only Institute to hold this kind of event in Lagos.

Even though the exam spirit was in the air, we also decided to share the #hacktoberfest spirit with it, since this only happens in on October every year as this is the fifth year so far.

Launching the event with us was our very known Shedrack Akintayo who is a Full-stack developer and a Lead at Developer Circle, He got the atmosphere at ease by introducing himself and getting to know the audience knowing most of them are new to it, open-source was a new word to almost everyone, students got amazingly curious to know what this means and how it can affect their day to day life, sharing ideas and building those ideas with like minds to make something really useful which can solve so many challenges out there.

Our Second Speaker was Tunde Yusuf, a Senior Developer at Findworka. We were quite surprised he was able to make time for our event, it’s not every day we get to see a Senior Developer taking his/her time off to come to speak to some students at a school event, with the few hours he spent with us, he showed us how we can start our carrier as a developer in relation to Open Source and how it opens doors of opportunities as it has now become a way to prove one's skill and how well they can collaborate with other teams.

When others have one MC we happen to get two amazing developers who kept the event exciting, Charles Ebuka Chiakwa with Godspeed both made the event memorable.

It was finally time for some hands one with GitHub and how we can contribute to open source in which two projects were demonstrated while we explained how and what each step does getting them familiar with Github for the first time for some who are just getting to know it.

We played Kahoot games and gave out swags to the winners at the end.

Special thanks to our esteemed sponsors: Ingressive, DSC and also Okada Books for their support and also for making the event possible, Also to the DSC Lead Rotimi Princess for making this event an awesome one.
