Story Guidelines for Writers

Hello writers,

Welcome aboard!

We initiated INITIUM to provide you a showcase for your works and thus, provide the world with some quality information. In the endeavour to do the same and streamline the process, here are some rules and guidelines we would like the writers to follow:

i) We publish only those topics which come under the following theme(s)-
Marketing
Startups
Entrepreneurship
Freelancing

Cryptos
Blockchains

ii) The minimum number of words should be 500, but there is no upper limit. Write as much as you want. 😉

iii) Do your research well. Everyone loves reading updated content.

iv) A picture is worth thousand words. So, include related pictures, charts, and infographics if you can. You need to mention the source of the image that you have used in your content. Ensure that the image is not copyrighted and is not also used by others.

v) Please do not plagiarise. Post original content. We are trusting you on this! Please note that we will check the whole article before publishing. If we find it plagiarized, we will send it back to the respective author and it’s your responsibility to edit and make the necessary changes. No editor would be held responsible for not editing plagiarized work. Having said that, you can make use of the different plagiarism tools available online to check the uniqueness of your content. Guess what, it’s for free!

vi) You can, however, republish this story, but only after a week of its publishing on INITIUM. And when you do so, use “originally published on INITIUM” as tag and also put “originally published on INITIUM” somewhere at the top or towards the end of your content.

vii) Lastly, we’re very strict about the quality of the publication. We expect you to understand the value of the benchmark we want to set for the publication and adhere to it. Before you submit any article, check everything yourself. Editors can only edit the sentence structure, can cut back on unnecessary words, and can hone the piece toward the right direction. If there’s too much error in the piece, we will either send the article to the respective author for a rewrite or reject the piece completely.

OK, time to pitch in with your 5–10 topics for the month.

Once you hear from us, you can start working on your story. Also note, your idea may get rejected if it doesn’t adhere to the guidelines. In that case, one of our editors will email you. You can re-edit or try something else.

Just in case, you don’t hear from us, consider yourself lucky that your ideas have all been approved. Start writing!

We will help you become a great storyteller with some tips to make your stories a good read -

i) Break the story into subheadings.

ii) Use proper formatting, e.g. bold, italic and underline.

iii) Keep sentence length to under 20 words.

iv) Keep paragraph length to under 5 sentences. However, making all paragraphs 5 sentences long will look boring. Use a mix of one-sentence paragraphs, two-sentence paragraphs and so on.

v) Use active voice in your story whenever possible.

vi) Spell check before submission. You can use https://www.grammarly.com for this purpose.

vii) Check readability. A score of 5–7 on http://www.hemingwayapp.com/ would be good, but not mandatory. It’s more like maintaining a self-check and making improvements.

viii) Maintain a proper flow of font while writing your story. Different fonts in a document do not look appealing.

We also are open to accept specialist writers for our Quora promotions. Let’s not add more irrelevant content that is already available everywhere on the Internet. Time to show them that INITIUM rocks.
