Replin Community Update! Decentralized Marketplace Payments and Reputation powered by PayPal and Ink Protocol
Replin beta is initially targeting social selling on platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook Marketplace, Reddit, and more.
The Replin beta was first introduced a couple months ago, and we have been thrilled with the early results. Initially described as a general decentralized marketplace app, we did a lot of user testing and quickly realized that sellers need a bit more focus and direction to understand what we are trying to build. So, we went looking for p2p commerce activity on platforms where reputation was a big missing piece.
Along the way, we discovered large communities of sellers on Twitter and Instagram. So, over the last several weeks, we directly engaged sellers on these platforms to solicit feedback and see if Replin was indeed useful for what they were doing. As a result, hundreds of transactions have now been completely successfully through Replin via our partnership with PayPal Commerce Platform, and we are putting on the final touches before exiting the beta period. Product-market fit is still our main focus as we learn from early users, but we think many of the pieces are in place now and the app itself is running smoothly and bug free.
Global Trust and Reputation for P2P Commerce
Even though we are focusing on social selling at the moment, Replin is just one of the apps that will help fulfill our vision for decentralized marketplaces of the future. We are building a complete platform that allows consumers to sell goods and services on any marketplace, while earning public, transferable reputation — allowing them to carry their merchant rating across any platform they use.
Replin — working directly with PayPal and their recently announced PayPal Commerce Platform, we built a consumer friendly app with real money payments to reach a broad consumer audience, while writing reputation directly to the Ethereum blockchain using Ink Protocol.
Ink Pay — a fully decentralized dApp that allows buyers and sellers to transact directly using cryptocurrency and stablecoins via Ink Protocol from their own wallets.
Listia — since the very beginning, Ink Protocol was integrated into our existing marketplace, so users can easily buy and sell goods using the XNK cryptocurrency today, without needing to understand blockchain tech, wallets, dApps etc.
Newest Features
During the beta period, we have already built and tested many new features that users were asking for, like:
- Import your eBay profile and previous feedback to jump start your reputation.
- Connect your Twitter account and mention @OnReplin in your tweets and we will automatically reply with your reputation. Super useful for selling on Twitter. Example:
- Connect your Instagram account to verify your username and import your reference link, which is a clunky but common way that IG sellers currently display their reputation.
- Connect your Reddit account to confirm your Reddit identity when selling on “buy, sell, trade” subreddits.
- Added a badge system so sellers can show off their current level, ranging from “Newbie” all the way to “Pro”.
- Added Checkout Links so sellers can pre-fill listing information and pricec information, making it easier for buyers to pay.
- Added a “Total Sales” stat in the seller’s view so users can keep track of their sales achievements!
