Wardrobe malfunction : Thoughts of a Mother-to-be

If you have been like me for all your life who stands and stares at her wardrobe, waiting for the answers to come out of the closet and if you are a female (who might want to be a birthing mother someday) — then this one’s for you.

I used to feel deciding on your everyday looks was half the job done for the day and had my fair share of moments, where I have concluded that I have no clothes right before a party. These problems multiply exponentially when you are pregnant. I am at a stage where my bump has started to announce its arrival into a room before I have and where my purani jeans (old jeans) is no longer my friend. So, we decided on maternity jeans but while we were shopping, we decided to be forward looking and took a size that “will be perfect in the coming months”! In simple terms, we took a loose / bigger size.

That has led to my constant struggle of what to wear — clothes that are tight or clothes that are loose!! I can be seen constantly pulling up my mat jeans which is still big for me in my 5th month and I don’t even want to fit in it too soon — knowing that this means getting bigger by the day! I’d prefer to be round but not too round — just the right kind of round. Super difficult to achieve this with our Indian genes. On other (non-jeans) days, you can see me donning dresses and skirts, matched with maternity stockings (which are a must have and so comfy — this brand has helped me so much and are wayyy better than the H&M ones which started developing lint in one wash :-/ ). Plus jackets in the Irish weather are a must and it is getting tougher each week to zip them up. I have now shifted from my long worn Black Zara to White Uniqlo jacket, light and loose which ends up attracting comments like “you look like you are in Iceland!” :)

To get some more respite in my Goldilocks life (oh, it’s too loose-Oh! It’s too tight!), I have ordered this stretchable pregnancy belly band and I am waiting for it to arrive in the Amazon post with more desperation than what Harry Potter had while looking out for Hedwig as he counted his days in Privet drive. (Will tell you how this band helped me, after I have some personal experience to share).

Until then, I will be waiting …

Edit : I finally received the belly band and have recently started to wear it to work. Only been two days, but I am so glad that I can wear all my pre-preggy jeans and none of the buttons are visible. Must have. Hope this lasts!
