Controlled by Guilt

A free-verse poem

Guilt creeps up
tightly wrapping greedy arms around
the truth
and dragging
downward
toward never-ending doom.

Depression and defeat
circle around their prey
swooping down for the kill.

Hate drips from self-inflicted wounds
cut by a hand
controlled by guilt.
