Escape

A poem about freedom

Running blindly
ignorantly
foolishly
from everything
I have ever known.

Don’t turn back
no change of heart
no regrets.

I run wildly
crazily
endlessly
from everyone
I’ve ever loved.

Don’t listen
to their cries
they don’t need you
don’t let them change
your made-up mind.

I run eternally
from fear
from pain.

Don’t look behind
at the demons
closing the gap
don’t let them reach you.
Escape

I run forward
into the future
My future
my life
my destiny.

Don’t look back
and remember the bad times
the hard times
but reach
inside
and pull out the memories
you cherish
of joy
of love
and of the escape.
Your escape.
My escape.
