How dare you

“People are suffering, people are dying, entire ecosystems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction and all you can talk about is money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth,” Greta said.

How dare you
Rob me of my earth
Bleed my skies
Poison my air
Swallow my water
And then tell me
You have gifted me
A home

How dare you
Build empires of paper
Coat my farms
With your silver
Wrap my bread
With your gold
And then tell me
This is my food

How dare you
Kill colors
With your greed
Destroy canvas
With your lust
Burn souls
With your dark fire
And then ask me
To be an artist

How dare you
Plant seeds of
Hate and hate and hate
And cages
For children
Coast less black seas
For Mothers
And then tell me
I will always be loved

How dare you
Tell me
This is for my good
For my stability
When you have looted
My home
My food
My water
My soul
My life
My love

The thing is Greta is not just talking about climate change risks and disasters but all that her generation has already been stripped off thanks to all the greedy and mindless generations before her.

Before attacking (shame on the so-called adults naming her and mocking her) and ‘using’ this 16 year old girl, that media and politics seem to be so keen on, let’s think about the models we continue to contribute to which with every passing day put another negative challenge on the future of our next generations.

Money and stability were sold to us to be the answer to every problem, and here we are, a generation with biggest mental health epidemic, a supposedly enlightened globalized world at the verge of wars everywhere overflowing with hatred and divisive narratives, and a planet that continues to be at red risk. Still time to do some real work and recover at least some of the damage. Starts from personal choices and decisions as difficult as they may seem.
