Sonnet 2, Never Again

an English / Shakespearean sonnet

I scarce can think on days that bore your name.
I pulled the vine of you, the weeds from skin —
of you; the dried, the dead, the crazed, insane,
the haunting dreams of evils and of sin.

Promise myself each day — never again!
I lift my face, wash out my eyes, and grow…
