I’m Excited About Friend Of Medium (and other updates)

I just heard about the new Friend of Medium initiative.

I know a lot of people complain about Medium as a platform, but to me, I have no qualms about it. I think it’s a great place to share your writing, interact with readers (and other writers) and it feels like a platform and community that actually listens and wants its users to grow.

So I’m excited about how the platform is growing and changing with this new membership tier to help support writers even more than it already does! I love that this new feature allows non-Medium members to support writers even if they aren’t signed up to the Partnership Program themselves through the new Friend Link option — the person who’s a Friend, their increased membership subscription allows their friends to read Medium content for free but the writers still benefit.

I just love that model! It’s sharing the love. It’s support. It’s generosity. It’s gratitude. Do you agree? Do you like this new model? I’m curious what your thoughts are on it.
