We’re All On The Path To Progress. Or Are We?
I was doing a run the other day (was it yesterday?) and the instructor said some line that when I heard it I was like: YES! Some little bit of inspiration, or motivation. She said:
We’re all on the path to progress.
And my immediate thought, as I was running downhill on a beautiful sunny morning with beautiful fall leaves all around me on the ground was: Yes! So true!
But then I thought to myself: wait a minute….are we? Are we all on the path to progress? I know she was talking about it in a fitness sense. We’re all wanting to progress on our fitness journeys and improve our health and wellbeing. Okay, sure. No one wants to go backwards with regards to their health and fitness.
But it got me thinking — does this apply to life in general? Do we all want to just progress, improve move forward, grow, evolve? Do we all just want to go, go, go, and keep climbing in life?
I don’t think so. Plus, maybe it’s just me but that just sounds exhausting. Some people might want to just be content with where they are in their lives. Maybe they don’t want to improve or change or grow or evolve or (insert any other sort of similar motivational words here). Isn’t it okay just to be. And not always be striving to be better?
