Today’s question is:

What if you were asked to give a speech on the most valuable thing you’ve ever learned? What would you talk about?

I would give a talk about impermanence.

It’s something I’ve learned through my meditation and Buddhist studies. And personally, I think it’s the most important thing that anyone can learn.

That time is fleeting. That everything is impermanent. Always changing.

The idea that everything ends at some point. Everything from the seasons to us.

We’re all impermanent. And it’s important to keep that in mind because that keeps things in perspective. It helps make you realize what is really important in life.

Which, when it boils down to it, is love. Love and kindness. And showing people that you love and care about that love and kindness. That’s all that matters.

Showing everything love and kindness — from other people, to the planet, is the best thing we can do for ourselves, for others and for where and how we live.

This is part of my ‘what if…?’ series inspired by Scenario Cards (which are packs of cards that come in 6 different varieties (self, the world and life; and gratitude, vision and impact) that inspire meaningful conversations designed by psychologists). You can check out the rest of the articles in this series here.

And check out my publications: Mindful Mental Health, Penny Press, and Beautiful Choices. Inkslinger Magazine is my personal publication which has fiction and nonfiction.
