It might seem like an easy question but it’s a big decision. Your fundraising goal is more than just selecting a number, it’s establishing a goal to work towards throughout your entire campaign. It’s setting the tone and following it from beginning to end.

So it’s time to pick your fundraising goal and define the results you want to receive. How much money is going to your cause? And how do you go about selecting a number?

As your fundraising partner, we decided to break it down for you.

Be Measurable

Start by asking yourself, “how much money do I need to raise?” If you’re raising money for a certain cause or event, you’ll have your goal already picked out for you.

If there’s any uncertainty in determining your goal, brainstorm what your ideal fundraising result would be, then go from there.

Next, think about how many shirts you would need to sell to reach your goal. After calculating this number, you can determine the probability of reaching your goal. If you believe you can surpass this amount of shirts, aim higher!

Be Attainable

Aim high, but not too high! Inspire your audience with an attainable goal. Keep in mind that the t-shirt campaign only needs to sell 6 pieces (applies to a standard campaign) in order to be printed, so your goal can be any dollar amount, but it feels better when you reach it! Our team of experts recommends keeping your fundraising goal in the $500 dollar range.

Knowing your audience is important, too. How much did you decide to price your apparel? Remember who you’re trying to reach with your campaign, and the likelihood of them purchasing your shirts.

Be Timely

Your goal is dependent on how much time you’re willing to put into your fundraiser. Consider how long your campaign is going to run for. Have you launched it for two weeks or 30 days? These factors play a role in the amount of time you’ll be able to raise money. The more time and energy you devote to promoting your fundraiser, the more proceeds you’ll raise for your cause.

Let’s face it, not everyone is going to hit their fundraising goal. So don’t be discouraged! You can always relaunch your campaign and give it another go. Find out the reason you didn’t reach your goal, learn from it. Plan better for the future or try another design. Not everyone accomplishes their goals the first time around, and that’s ok.
