I recently wrote about where to find your best entrepreneurial opportunity in autonomous vehicles, concluding,

Maybe you can be the next Elon Musk, who knows? But more likely, you’ll make your fortune becoming the next Levi Strauss.

Today BatteryXchange hit my radar. This is a great example of what I’m talking about.

BatteryXchange (“BXE”) is an ecosystem of smart kiosks that seeks to increase connectivity between people, businesses, and communities. BXE uses its rental platform to provide on-demand portable batteries to connect people, businesses, & communities to things that matter to each entity the most.

The company was started by Desmond Wiggan, who spent two years in China in graduate business school getting his MBA in International Business. That was also a great place to learn about the battery ecosystem.

BatteryXchange swaps batteries for phones and other devices, not electric and autonomous vehicles… yet. It’s a pickaxe and blue jeans kind of business created to support the huge market for portable electric devices.

It’s an inspiration for the low capital, high growth kind of businesses that entrepreneurs will create around the rapidly growing market of electric and autonomous vehicles we’ll soon experience.
