From June 4–6, regional and national experts will convene at Notre Dame to discuss how AI, automation, and urban technology are transforming our workforce and our workplaces. The Future of Work Conference will facilitate interdisciplinary dialogue around the promises and challenges of our present technological revolution.

Speakers include South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Ben Levine from the MetroLab Network, Tia Hodges from the Citi Foundation, and Maureen Conway of the Aspen Institute. The Conference will host experts from think tanks, the private sector, local governments, and academia.

The South Bend Story

In addition to being a partner for the event, the city will also give context to the opportunities and challenges discussed during the 2-day conference. A tour on the first day will highlight the places, partnerships, and programs that are defining South Bend’s future.

“Conference attendees will tour South Bend and see how we’re prioritizing inclusion in the midst of urban innovation and change,” said Denise Linn Riedl, South Bend’s Chief Innovation Officer and the head of our Department of Innovation and Technology. “By embracing lifelong learning programs as well as creative partnerships with local employers and universities, we hope to support and empower all residents to thrive, even as the workplace changes around them.”
