Innovation, transparency, and civic engagement are the bedrock of the City’s efforts to improve residents’ lives in South Bend. The City makes these values a reality by using technology, data, and city performance management practices to create an inclusive ecosystem where university researchers, City staff, and residents can come together to solve problems, develop ideas, and grow.

In early 2019, we launched a new Transparency & Performance section on the City’s website to serve as a repository for existing items related to transparency. This site highlighted pertinent materials related to City transparency and performance, such as City documents and the Open Data Portal, while also hosting newly released information such as materials produced as part of the City’s performance management program, SB Stat.

Since the creation of the site, we have launched more initiatives and developed more materials than we know what to do with! With a need for a vehicle to display this work and keep open the door to innovation within the City, we redesigned the Transparency & Performance site to allow residents to more easily access and interact with initiatives championed by the Department of Innovation & Technology.
