What we’ve been up to…

Our team has been busy, but we’re back on Medium in 2023!

The Department of Innovation & Tech has been busy — busy implementing software, busy digitizing processes, busy streamlining local assistance, busy analyzing data, and busy addressing the digital divide. Busy!

Below is a glimpse into some of the things we’ve been working on since we last blogged.

Our team work has been testing new ways to engage residents in the City’s budget process!
Our Commuters Trust Project has been in full swing, not only helping hourly wage workers with transportation, but also job seekers and local volunteers.
Our Team has been partnering with our local school system, our library system, and nonprofit partners to forward digital equity.
Our team has been lead SB Academy, internal training courses in data, design, and process improvement. These used to be just for City Staff, but recently have opened up to the public as well.
Our Team redesigned South Bend’s Utility Assistance Program, making the application process and administration more simple and streamlined.
Our Team has been engaging residents in civic tech training and solution building via new programs like SolveSB, UpSkill SB and Self Made, Self Taught
Our Team has achieved WWC Silver for 2020 and 2021 with news on 2022 to come!

We’re prioritizing sharing, storytelling, and peer learning in 2023. We’ll be back on Medium to share ongoing news and programs. Stay tuned and reach out. We welcome collaboration!
