Starting September 7, our group is hosting a 4-part series of interactive salons for education leaders. We invite participants to reflect on teaching and learning during the global COVID-19 pandemic and dream about the future of learning environments and educational technology. Time will also be dedicated to brainstorming how schools in the U.S can make creative and wise decisions to make the most of allocated federal funding to support students and families.

Salon 1: Contemplating Education in the Era of COVID-19
Tuesday, Sep. 7th, 3–4 pm
Meet our team and engage in our new professional learning community! Educators are welcome to participate in a thoughtful exchange focusing on the lessons learned during this global pandemic. don buckley will offer an opening provocation and will facilitate the discussion.
don is a design thinker, innovator, and educator who uses design to create innovative solutions in education. He is the co-founder of Tools at Schools, Rewind Reset Forward, and serves on Teachers College Columbia University faculty. Additionally, he is an author, public speaker, and workshop facilitator. don lectures and consults internationally on design thinking, entrepreneurship, and innovation in education.
Salon 2: Contemplating the Future of Learning Environments
Thursday, Sep. 9th, 3–4 pm
Join Actionable Innovators for a robust online discussion focused on innovating during this next period of surviving the COVID-19 pandemic. In this session, we will focus on learning environments and the discussion will be led by Amy Yurko.
Amy is both a licensed architect and educator who applies brain-based strategies to the design of learning environments. Founder of BrainSpaces, Inc. and internationally recognized planning expert, and Amy brings over 30 years of experience combined with fresh ideas and insights to every project. Salon 3: Contemplating the Future of Educational Technology
Tuesday, Sep. 14th, 3–4 pm
In our third session, our community will discuss the role of educational technology in teaching and learning as we continue into uncertain times. Join Alex Podchaski, Dr. Stephanie Madlinger, and Actionable Innovators for this lively discussion.
Stephanie is the Director of Innovation for EducationPlus and Alex is the Director of Educational & Information Technology at North Broward Preparatory School in Coconut Creek, Florida.
Salon 4: Determining Priorities for ESSER Funding
Thursday, Sep. 16th, 3–4 pm
Our final kickoff session will focus on brainstorming possibilities for school districts to spend federal funding to benefit students and families. Let’s get creative and advocate for using funds to do education differently. This final session will be facilitated by Dr. Julene Reed and Curt Mould.
Dr. Julene Reed is an international consultant, presenter, researcher, instructional designer, and author with over twenty–five years of experience in education. Julene holds a doctorate in education leadership with a focus on global education. Julene is an adjunct professor in Lamar University’s Digital Learning and Leading program and an academic associate co-instructor with Arizona State University’s Mary Lou Fulton Teacher’s College. She has been actively involved in education initiatives globally, and also works with Polar Bears International and Dr. Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots.
Curt Mould is the Director of Digital Media, Innovation, and Strategy at Sun Prairie Area School District (WI) and is currently a doctoral student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
