Every AI week is a new excitement, rather overwhelming if you dive into each development, news, investment, upgrades, and more.

However, if you think of AI as a new language, you don’t need to read every book or speak it all the time to express yourself or become fluent in it.

Therefore, a daily AI update and a 5-minute investment of your time matters for the mid-term.

Warren Buffett wasn’t a billionaire until he was 50 years old. He applies the philosophy of long-term thinking, compounding interest, and fundamentals when he invests.

Berkshire of Warren Buffett owns ~5% of Apple and yet, he doesn’t even own an iPhone, he doesn’t know how to use one. He also invested heavily into BYD (Build Your Dreams — it is even a better name than LG, Life is Good).

We wouldn’t be surprised if Berkshire invests in Perplexity AI this year (someone has to invest a billion $, please) or ask his close friend Bill Gates for an investment in AI because his investment philosophy is about if everyone in the world would use the service or product and the revenue generated per person.

Let’s dive into today’s AI Frontier.

There is no doubt that Rabbit (made a GPT effect by selling 40,000 pre-orders on its first day) and Perplexity AI (the answer or learn engine that raised $75 million from the recent investment led by Jeff Bezos) are the new bright kids in the AI block.

They just signed a deal to join their powers, which will certainly create 1+1 = 3 or more.

What Does the Partnership Mean?

The first and most promising AI hardware device powered by the most promising AI Learn Engine that may shake and even dethrone Google from its own game.

What Does It Involve?

The collaboration introduces advanced features to the R1, including file upload support, a daily quota for over 300 complex queries, and the ability to provide live up-to-date answers without the need for a subscription. Perplexity AI, a rising star in the AI domain, utilizes a blend of its proprietary AI model and third-party models, including Google’s Gemini, Mistra 7B, Anthropic’s Claude 2.1, and OpenAI’s GPT-4.

The first 100,000 R1 purchasers will enjoy a complimentary one-year subscription to Perplexity Pro, a subscription valued at $200. The Rabbit R1’s integration with Perplexity AI represents a groundbreaking synergy between cutting-edge hardware and advanced artificial intelligence, promising to redefine how users interact with technology.

As Samsung just launched the first AI Phone, everyone is watching the next steps of Rabbit. If R2 could become an AI Phone acquired by a giant company, it could shift the AI hardware business.

Semrush. Semrush is one of the top marketing platforms used by millions of entrepreneurs and companies. Semrush offers various AI-powered tools to assist marketers and content creators. The AI Writing Assistant, for example, helps generate content for websites, ads, and social media posts by providing access to 75 different AI-generating tools. It supports the creation of various content types, such as Amazon product descriptions, essay introductions, meta descriptions, and more. Additionally, ContentShake AI is a smart writing tool that combines AI with real-life competitor insights to boost organic traffic. AI Marketing Strategy tool within Semrush helps create a marketing strategy by analyzing data and providing insights. It uses AI to identify trends and patterns in data and provides recommendations for improving marketing efforts.
Adcreative. Create professional social media graphics and textual content for any platform in two minutes with your branding and analyze your post results.
Writesonic. An AI-powered writing assistant that generates high-quality content for various topics, including SEO-friendly articles, Facebook ads, Google ads, and YouTube intros.
Heygen. Studio quality video in minutes by using your text prompt. Heygen is a top AI tool that produces AI-powered studio quality videos with AI-generated ultra-realistic avatars and voices.

GPT woke up the sleeping giants. The hot keyword at any tech giant keynote has been AI (except for Apple), but the water is getting warmer each week or even each day.

Let’s look into each tech giant’s latest steps to reach AGI before the other does:

Google. Google has one main focus in 2024, AI. The company was the most active in AI before any other company, but they were late to launch their LLM product, Bard and Gemini. Their main business, search, is at stake, however, people are used to using the classic search engine experience and 92% of searches are still made through Google. To us, Perplexity is way better (don’t let anyone know), but the time will come for the big wave to take off following the early adopters. The best action from Google is to either copy Perplexity or acquire it paying $1 billion (possibly more).
OpenAI. GPT-4 is certainly the AI LLM leader, but the company needs to keep pace in developing the AI product by possibly further investing in Q* (the mysterious development) to push for AGI. OpenAI is a relatively small company with 750 employees compared to the other giants, but it has the right people for growth. And it may act like a startup while powered by the most valuable company, Microsoft. OpenAI is also searching for investment in the Middle East and Far East to build its AI hardware and chip.
X. If Elon Musk is in, then, everyone invests. He is now touring for fundraising from his billionaire friends. X already raised $500M as of today and we assume that the Musk effect will reach the goal of $1B by the end of this week. In just about 4 months, the X Grok team reached the level of GPT 3.5 with a top AI team and Elon Musk is definitely using his Tesla AI team (the biggest AI team that nobody knows about) and his vast network of tech friends.
Meta. Mark Zuckerberg just announced with a reel on Instagram that they are combining the collective power of AI R&D to reach AGI and as the social media man of the century, he announced that the Meta AGI will be open source with a compute power of 350,000 NVIDIA GPUs to help build a next-generation AI with a human-like intelligence.

There are also European competitors such as Mistral and Chinese companies such as Baidu and Alibaba.

Competition brings highly developed products at a fair price point. And as Sam Altman suggested the cost of training and operating the AI models will get so low that almost anyone will be able to use it.

Exciting times are ahead for AI. There is no place like Silicon Valley.

There are some people that you just like to listen and you can’t have enough. Mustafa Suleyman and Yuval Noah Harari are such people.

Mustafa Suleyman is the co-founder of Deep Mind and Inflection AI. Deep Mind was acquired by Google and Inflection AI launched the EQ AI: Pi, which aims to become everyone’s therapeutic friend. He also authored The Coming Wave, an already bestselling book on AI.

Yuval Noah Harari is a best-selling historian, philosopher, and futurist (yes, 3 of them together). He wrote one of our favorite books, Sapiens and the other one is Homo Deus, which is about AI, humans creating superintelligence.

Yuval Noah Harari is more cautious and he emphasizes the fact that AI is the first technology that will make its own decisions, which can be scary. He believes the A in AI may stand for Alien, meaning that it is a new kind of species that we will not understand.

On the other hand, Mustafa Suleyman sees AI as the ultimate tool that will add incredible value to humanity by firstly eliminating repetitive jobs and people will enjoy incredible wealth and life quality thanks to using AI in all aspects of our lives.

It is great to discuss the regulations and super alignment when we are at the very beginning of the biggest technology shift in human history.
