Hi, AI Futurists!

We are witnessing the direct effects of AI on the top three companies in the world: Microsoft, Apple, and NVIDIA, respectively.

Becoming the biggest company in the world depends on being the most AI-innovative.

Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, recently gave a one-hour interview at Stanford, offering numerous insights gleaned from his extensive experience in leading NVIDIA to its current position. He discussed his leadership style, the company’s journey, the first-principle method, the future of AI, the challenges he faces, and more. See the full interview here.

The Future of AI Hardware Products

AI is entering all aspects of our lives. This includes physical products with promising features.

A few of the top products are Frame AI Glasses, Samsung AI Oven, AI Pin and Rabbit.

Frame AI Glasses, unveiled by Brilliant Labs, are cutting-edge wearable gadgets that integrate multimodal AI capabilities. These glasses offer a unique experience, allowing users to interact with the physical world through generative AI agents.

With features like visual overlays and text recognition, Frame enables users to ask questions about their surroundings, identify objects, and access information seamlessly.

Understanding the AI Hallucination Problem

Why do AI hallucinations occur?

AI learns from data to make predictions by recognizing patterns. However, if the data is incomplete or biased, the AI might pick up the wrong signals, leading to errors or what we call “hallucinations.”

For example, imagine an AI trained to spot cancer cells in medical images. If it only sees pictures of tumors but none of the healthy tissue, it might mistakenly label healthy areas as cancerous. That’s like the AI having a little mix-up, which we call an AI hallucination.

Here is an overview of understanding AI from the MIT Technology Review.

Elon Musk sued OpenAI this week and OpenAI fired back with a blog post adding the email correspondence between Elon Musk and the OpenAI exec team. Interestingly, it was also signed by Ilya Sutskever, Chief Research Scientist, who was one of the members who wanted to let Sam Altman go.

Elon Musk’s View

Elon Musk’s involvement with OpenAI began with co-founding the company with a $50 million investment. He even named the company, OpenAI, which conveys the meaning of open source and non-profit company. His emails suggest that the only way to compete with Google and build AGI, artificial general intelligence was through more funding, supposedly, $1 billion a year.

He proposed various scenarios, including merging OpenAI with Tesla, but ultimately withdrew his support, expressing skepticism about OpenAI’s ability to compete effectively without substantial funding.

OpenAI’s View

OpenAI acknowledges the immense resources needed for AGI development but diverges from Musk’s vision regarding organizational structure and control. The organization resisted Musk’s proposals for a for-profit entity, citing concerns about maintaining the mission’s integrity and avoiding undue influence from any individual, including Musk.

Then, they received over $10 billion investment from Microsoft, which gave them a 49% stake in the company. According to OpenAI, Microsoft doesn’t have any voting control over OpenAI’s decisions. Microsoft made GPT possible thanks to the funding and using its supercomputers for the computing power.

ChatGPT’s Resolution

We asked GPT about the likely resolution considering the case and here is its answer:

To resolve the dispute, Elon Musk and OpenAI could explore avenues for collaboration while respecting each other’s perspectives. This might involve revisiting funding agreements, clarifying governance structures, and finding common ground on strategic objectives. Both parties share a common goal of advancing AI technology responsibly, and by working together, they could leverage their respective strengths to accelerate progress toward achieving that goal.

Grok’s Resolution

We also asked X’s Grok for a possible resolution.

Grok seems to have a more thorough approach.
