A short intro about climate change. The climate crisis seems to be only important for scientists and a few politicians so far. Summer is hot, that’s a given and this year, we experienced the hottest day ever recorded. Luckily, capitalism meets nature, and just as China did, countries will move towards renewable energy options such as solar energy and then, hopefully, nuclear fusion in the next 3 decades.

Carbon emission reduction to 0 is one-half and carbon capture is the second half of the equation. That is still too expensive and it is mostly funded by governments. The easier ways could be taxing large companies to plant trees, funding R&D, and possibly, planting algae in the ocean, which is the main source of oxygen on Earth.

Just as what happened with Covid, the best collective plan we have for climate change is no plan, chaos without any central source of actions taken. Each country has the freedom to take any action at will. We don’t take lessons as humanity.

Many people around the world complain about more rain than usual and that’s because the ocean temperature is higher on average, even more than expected, which causes evaporation and that results in more rain around the world.

Don’t Look Up on Netflix is a great film on human indifference. And you can check the Innovation Party Book on Climate Change on Amazon: How to Save the World from Ourselves.

Threads is Good for Twitter. Here is Why

Twitter has 300 million monthly active users.

Instagram has 2 billion monthly active users.

This means that if Meta can transfer 15% of its Instagram active users to Threads, it will have the same size as Twitter.

15 million people already signed up for Threads in its first 7 hours.

Update: As of July 10th, 100 million+ people signed up for Threads — in only 5 days following its launch.

The fastest growth for a platform has so far been by ChatGPT reaching 100 million active users in 2 weeks and it seems, Threads has surpassed that already in less than a week breaking the new record with a cheat element of people directly signing up using their Instagram account, having the ability to add all their IG friends.

Mark Zuckerberg’s first Tweet in 10 years.

Both Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg are ultra-competitive people with endless sources.

Elon Musk will most probably accelerate his action to make Twitter a super app and use Twitter data to build the next-generation AI platform using his engineering and product development skills while hiring the most talented people along the way.

Mark Zuckerberg is arguably (or most definitely) the most experienced and talented person in building social media platforms with a team who are incredibly focused on social media. They have done this several times before.
