Hi, AI Futurists!

Welcome to this week’s edition of the Week in AI. Another eventful week for the AI Space.

For now, AI relies on big money, computation, and data to create GenAI, but it does so inefficiently. A child needs much less data and experience to learn at the same level as current AI systems.

However, computational power has increased by a million in the last 10 years. Now, we have the NVIDIA Blackwell GPU, which required a $10 billion investment to develop.

A prime example is Meta’s launch of Llama 3, which is pioneering the path to open-source AGI with 1 million GPU AI chips, a venture totaling $30 billion, sponsored by our attention span.

From GenAI to Multi-Modality

Seems transition from LLMs to LAMs (Large Action Model) won’t be that straightforward. Marques Brownlee, arguably, the biggest tech content creator out there, just reviewed Rabbit R1. Apart from the price tag of $200, he doesn’t see much value in it.

It seems our phones or most probably, iPhones may become the next step in LAMs, meaning our words may turn into multiple actions and we may actually get things done in the physical world with our AI assistants such as planning and managing our weekend trip or finding us the sources and teaching us any skills such as a language or cooking.

Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, referred to GPT-4 as “the dumbest model any of you will ever have to use again” during a talk at Stanford University.

Without further ado, let’s get started.
