It mostly started with the manufacturing and military boom of WWII. At one point, the US was half the world economy. There are so many factors to why the US is still so dominant.

Currently, the US population is about 5% of the global population and 20% of the global economy. That’s one country among 195. Only California is the 9th biggest economy in the world with the top 3 companies, Apple, Microsoft, and Google headquartered in California.

I lived in the US for over 10 years, 5 of that period in New York, which I call as the capital of capitalism. As I see it, New York is the capital of the US, at least financially.

And this will be a post about my own experiences living, working and studying there as an international person who is into economy and engineering.

The Culture

I believe this is the most important aspect of why the US creates global companies and dominate the world.

Firstly, it has an immigrant heritage. The first people who moved there were after making it big, making their dreams come true while taking huge risks.

And this character has become a personality of the nation where people dream big and globally.
