Human General Intelligence challenged by advanced technology

An ongoing discussion since ChatGPT (Generative Pre-training Transformer) was first introduced is around whether ChatGPT qualifies as AGI (Artificial General Intelligence)? The consensus(general agreement by humans) is that AGI requires a certain level of common-sense that humans have but AI in ChatGPT and AI in general is still missing and probably decades away.

In agreement with this definition, following are few scenarios of how an AI entity may behave:

  • Iif an AI entity observes an irrational interaction between humans that is unsafe or harmful, instead of interfering or calling out for help, it would just start video recording the incident.
  • If an AI entity is engaged to perform a job, it will do the job as expected without any enthusiasm or curiosity that leads to further innovation. A behavior similar to quiet quitting, a detached entity that does the job it is asked to do and no more.

AGI may be decades away but if the goal is to have human-like common-sense, curiosity and passion, then reaching that goal may take fewer decades than we think, as HGI seems to be a moving target that is deteriorating with technology advancements.
