Designing instruction with the help of Goalbook Toolkit helps educators reach ALL students.

Our partners all over the world are doing amazing things in their classrooms every day, and Goalbook Toolkit enables them to really connect with their students. It is the work that these teachers and leaders do that inspires the way we design our product features. This summer, we have worked exceptionally hard to ship some significant changes to Toolkit in an effort to continue working alongside teachers as they design instruction that pushes ALL students to be successful.

This is a round-up of the top five product updates that will help Toolkit users stay organized, reach specialized student populations, and target the needs of their students with pinpoint accuracy.

1. Anchor Pages

Anchor Pages feature objectives, aligned assessments, and instructional resources. Determine Main Idea and Key Details (RI.3.2)

Our Anchor Pages were designed with the explicit purpose of helping educators design long-term goals for the most foundational grade-level knowledge and skills. They take into account a student’s present levels by providing research-based, incremental instructional objectives that act as gradual steps toward mastery. Anchor Pages include teaching materials, instructional supports, and assessments so that teachers can immediately take action towards implementing research-based instruction and monitoring student progress.

Here are some Anchor Pages you can check out:

Reading

Kindergarten: Retell a Familiar Story RL.K.2

Grade 1: Retell the Beginning, Middle and End of a Story RL.1.2

Grade 2: Ask and Answer “Wh” Questions RL.2.1

Grade 3: Determine the Main Idea and Key Details RI.3.2

Math

Grade 2: Solve Word Problems Using Equations 2.OA.A.1

2. Favorite Button

Demonstration of “favoriting” an instructional resource for fifth-grade reading standard Rl.5.1 and accessing the Favorites tab.

The Favorite button is the fastest and most convenient way to organize instructional content in Goalbook Toolkit. Clicking on the Favorite button saves the Strategy Page, Anchor Page, or Instructional Resource to your “Favorites”, where you can easily access all of your go-to resources when you need them. This is especially beneficial when you need to curate multiple resources that you’ll use over and over again.

3. Related Service: Hearing Resources

Our hearing content brings specialized research into the classroom.

We’ve expanded our content offering by adding specialized resources for hearing, vision, and orientation/mobility. We wanted to empower both specialists and educators to implement research-based practices so that students who might require more specialized instruction have access to the standards. We’ve prioritized student empowerment and independence by writing content pages focused on assistive technology and self-advocacy for students who need support with hearing. We will continue to build and improve this specialized content as we receive feedback from our partners.

4. ECE Strategies

Our NEW ECE strategy pages help ECE educators target the most critical developmental skills for children aged birth to four. Our goal was to help educators prepare students to take on the academic, developmental, and cognitive challenges of elementary school and beyond. We’ve gathered the foremost research on early childhood development to design strategy pages that address the most critical skills young learners need to develop if they are to be successful. All of our ECE strategy pages have implementation tips that include resources teachers can use to create an enriching learning environment.

5. Present Levels

A brief tour of the new Present Levels Wizard.

Our NEW Present Levels Wizard helps educators develop a research-based and data-informed understanding of a student’s strengths and areas of need so that they can design effective instructional actions that will enable student success. It is still in the early stages of development, but we are working on building the Wizard out to include subjects such as math and behavior/SEL.

We are committed to continuously optimizing and improving the user experience AND the quality of the content that we produce, these five features are a testament to that commitment.
