We care as much about our team members as we do our district and school partners that we serve. Over 75% of our team members are former K–12 educators and administrators who share a passion for helping all students succeed, and we strive to create an environment where each team member feels genuinely cared for and appreciated.

One way we do this is by providing a robust benefits package to support our team members’ health, happiness, and growth so they’re empowered to do their best work.

Here are just a few ways we support Goalbook team members.

Monetary Benefits

Transparent and Equitable Compensation: We believe in pay equality and we base our compensation ranges on pay data from across the country. We determine the fair market value and compensation for each team member using three variables: role, geographic location, and experience level. This same process is applied to everyone to ensure we have equitable compensation across the organization.

401(k) Matching: Goalbook team members can elect to defer pre- or post-tax compensation into a 401(k). Goalbook matches 100%, up to 6% of total compensation.

Annual Profit Sharing: In order to have a positive, long-term impact on instructional practice, we must be a sustainable company. In order to be sustainable, we have to generate enough revenue to cover costs and generate a profit to further invest in our work. Once per year, Goalbook takes a portion of its profits and gives a distribution to each team member as an additional way to show appreciation for the work of our team members.

Payment in Bitcoin and Ethereum: As an optional service for employees, Goalbook allows employees to specify a percentage of their recurring payroll to automatically be paid in Bitcoin and/or Ethereum.

Productivity Benefits

Company Laptop: Every employee receives an Apple computer to do their best work.

Goalbook Universal Basic Income (GUBI): In addition to salary, every Goalbook team member receives an extra $10,000 yearly — no strings attached — just for being a Goalbook employee. The purpose of this benefit is to provide each team member with resources to help them do their best work. It’s our version of Universal Basic Income.

Health and Well-Being Benefits

Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance: Goalbook contributes the first $2,500 in premiums each month. In many cases, this is enough to cover 100% of healthcare premiums for three people. Goalbook pays an additional portion of any premium above $2,500.

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA): Goalbook offers two types of FSA accounts, including Dependent Care and Medical Reimbursement. You can save pre-tax dollars from payroll to contribute to your FSA accounts for qualified out-of-pocket expenses such as health care bills and child care.

Mental Health Support: Goalbook team members have access to Modern Health, a mental health platform that provides a full spectrum of resources, ranging from digital courses and meditations to a network of certified coaches and licensed therapists. Every employee has access to 12 private coaching and private therapy sessions each year that are paid for by Goalbook.

Goalbook Family and Medical Leave (GFML): GFML provides up to 14 weeks of full pay to employees who have met the eligibility requirements for family and medical leave, including parental leaves.

Family Building Reimbursement: Employees who have completed one year of service at Goalbook are eligible to receive up to $25,000 in non-taxed reimbursement for IVF or IUI medical treatments, and surrogacy or adoption agency fees. This is a lifetime benefit that can be used once for each employee.

Work From Your Community: Our headquarters is located in San Mateo, CA, but our team members work from home or co-working offices across the country.

Flexible Time Off (FTO) and Flexible Work Schedule: We have a flexible time off (FTO) policy, including vacation and sick days, for Goalbook employees. This means you are not limited to a specific number of vacation or sick days.

This policy is intended to provide team members with a greater level of flexibility to choose the type of time off they need. It is also meant to better accommodate more diverse teams, allowing employees to choose which holidays to celebrate, take time off for birthdays or other meaningful dates, run important errands, attend appointments, etc. This means you aren’t tied to a specific school calendar or bell schedule.

Professional Growth Benefits

Professional Growth Stipend: As Goalbook’s second core value is growth, the purpose of this policy is to provide our team members with opportunities to increase their skills and further their professional growth. We encourage our employees to continue to invest in educating themselves outside of the workplace by reimbursing up to $1,500 each year in spending related to one’s professional growth.

Team Weeks: Two times per year, we host a company Team Week. The whole company gets together, reviews accomplishments, engages in fun activities and builds in social time for you to build stronger relationships with your teammates. Goalbook covers the accompanying airfare, accommodation, and meals for team members.
