The new Learning Goal Index page in Toolkit is another way that educators can easily locate goals that are specific to their students' needs.

Prior to its release, educators could use the Learning Goal Wizard to answer a series of questions to collect descriptive, content, and access level data on students in order to surface goals based on the specified filters. The result was usually one specific goal or set of goals. The other option was using the browse goals page which allows teachers to surface goals by prioritizing filters: Subject, Grade Level, Levels of Support, Subject Categories, Standards, and Keyword Search. This is a very open-ended search method and surfaces results more broadly than the wizard.

The Goal Index Page is a happy medium of sorts; it displays all of the subject area categories that Toolkit offers and users can select subcategories within that subject area to surface all the relevant goal results therein. Watch the video below to see how!

A note about goals in Toolkit.

Goals in Toolkit currently span 17 subject areas and disability categories including Reading, Writing, Math, Behavior & SEL, Pre-Kindergarten, English Learners, Autism, Speech & Language, Transition, Alt Academic & Life Skills, Occupational Therapy, Success Skills, Deaf/Hard of Hearing, Adapted Physical Education, Blind/Visual Impairment, Birth to 3 Years, and Dyslexia. Our content team is always researching the highest-need areas to add to the tool.

We want ALL students to be able to access and grasp standards and grade-level-aligned instruction, so we’ve added features to our goal pages that help teachers do that.

  • Access Points: These are tabs found on goal pages that offer goal text for the same standard and skill at three different levels of access: Developing, Approaching, and Grade Level.
Goal Page Example: Prove Similar Triangles & Find Side or Angle Measures
  • Progress Monitoring Resources: On goal pages, teachers will find both a teacher tracking sheet and a specific progress monitoring assessment that aligns with the skill. Additionally, there are clear criteria for success aligned with the one outlined within the goal text.
