A challenging trip to Twickenham…

I’ve been to Twickenham many times for all sorts of games and each time it has been difficult. I’m not sure whether it’s the scale of the place or the complex organisation but days at HQ are always a challenge. One thing that has to be said though, Tracy and her team in the Photographers’ Room always look after us well. Her care and thoughtfulness is a blessing — she manages to balance keeping us togs on the right side of the event’s rules and getting the access we need.

We had a full team at Twickenham — Andy Taylor had a roving bib, I had access for Saints’ attack at both ends and Liz was doing her stuff on the Press bench. The first job of getting the team arriving was a problem because they turned up early! Fortunately, Andy was about to get some shots of Dylan leading the team into the changing room.

I decided to hang around at the South end of the ground for the warm up — many thanks to those that sent me messages via social media pitchside. It is lovely knowing you are behind us in our quest to get great photos. The stadium looked magnificent even if the music was deafening — I was relieved when the marching band turned up. The warm up featured two new arrivals — Rob Horne and Cobus Reinach.

Much has already been said about the match — ‘a humbling experience’ said Dylan which sums it up perfectly. As togs, we just have to do our best to get a record of the game. And all in all we didn’t do a bad job — you’ll see that as a result of our different positions in the ground, Andy and I get quite different perspectives of the match.

Here are some of Andy’s pics from the day…

And here are some of mine…
