We share the following statement with you, as we did at our AGM with our investors.

As employees of Inovia Capital, it’s important to recognize the events of the last week that first took place in Minnesota and the ramifications that have since reverberated through communities around the world.

We are not naive enough to imagine that because these events have primarily occurred in the US that they do not (or should not) affect us all. I can assure you that the impact has been profound.

Now, our job as investors doesn’t specifically call for us to take a stand on social issues. However, we as a team are not solely defined by the scope of our employment. What bonds us together are our values and the actions we take that reflect favourably upon them in times of conflict.

What happened in Minnesota, and the long track record of similar injustices towards the Black community is an affront to our values of diversity, respect, and inclusion. Inaction in these situations diminishes us all.

Our objective is not to pay lip service to those that bear the brunt of these abuses. We are committed to playing a role in addressing these issues that are both immediate and systemic. Our team is taking the next few weeks to engage with stakeholders in the community to help us identify specific programs to which we can make long term contributions that can help accomplish this.

Our words today will not bring back any lives that have been lost or correct injustices that have occurred. We know that our actions to date have been well-meaning, yet insufficient.

We must do better. We will do better
