Investing My Time in Medium
I take Medium seriously. Do I have to worry?
I’ve been on Medium for more than one year. Six stories per month at least. Usually more.
I wasn’t all in, but I took it seriously.
This afternoon my neighbor was sunbathing.
At some point, he told his children: “Anyone wants to take a bicycle ride?”
One of the kids, maybe around 5, seriously replied: “I can’t! I’m playing.”
He was busy playing something. The others wisely kept silent.
No bicycle ride.
The scene was funny but left me with a bitter taste.
Sometimes my wife returns home from work, I welcome her, then I tell her “Just 5 minutes!” and I return in my study for half an hour, or much more, trying to finish my story — which won’t happen — or to pick the finest picture for my latest.
Maybe sometimes she would have preferred to chat with me.
Instead, I played Medium.
Will it matter, when I grow up?
The child in me says yes.
But my wife smiles, and this makes me wonder.
