The team that plays together, stays together.
Team outings are beneficial for your team and company for several reasons, like reducing employee stress levels and increasing productivity at the office. Beyond that, team outings create an environment that’s ideal for uncovering hidden talents whilst improving communication and collaboration.
Although there are plenty of options for a fun time out with your crew, we’ve tried and tested the following team-building activities that might inspire your next team event:
Here’s a fun team-building activity that’ll get everyone hungry by the time it’s over. Cooking can be a rewarding experience — some people love it — and others, not so much.
But cooking in good company can really transform the entire experience and become enjoyable for even the most inexperienced chef.
After all, food is the ingredient that binds us together.
Soon you’ll see everyone’s teamwork and leadership skills in action. To get this team activity up and running, you would first have to rent a common kitchen, like this one.
Then, divide your team into smaller groups — one for the appetiser, one for the main course and one for dessert (of course!). Next, agree on a type of cuisine, like Italian, Japanese, Mexican, Thai or Mediterranean — we went with this! Each team will then have to determine among themselves what dish they will bring to the table, without revealing it to the other teams. This adds an element of surprise to the activity, because you don’t know what your teammates will be cooking up!
2. Escape Room
This one has gained popularity in recent years as a great team-building activity for groups of all ages and backgrounds. What’s fun about it is the combination of teamwork, logic, creativity and patience that is required for a group to actually escape and win the game!
It shouldn’t be difficult to find one located near you, and it’s much more straightforward to plan than a cooking event. The ‘escape room’ concept works as such: After selecting an escape room theme (think Horror, Thriller, Sci-Fi), you and your team will be locked in a room for one hour. During this time, you would have to work together to uncover hidden clues, solve puzzles and crack the mystery, which ultimately leads you to a key that unlocks the escape room door. Exciting!
3. Water Activities (Canoeing, Paddleboarding)
Who doesn’t love an activity in the great outdoors? Whether you’ve decided on canoeing, kayaking or paddleboarding, it’s really hard to go wrong — because everybody loves them! To add to the fun, you can finish off a hard day of ‘exercise’ with a little picnic by the water, packed with favourite snacks, drinks and pre-packed meals.
Note: You might have to save this one for Summer.
What do you think about our tried-and-tested list of team-building activities? Would you add something to it? We hope you’ve been inspired to organise a kick-ass team-building event for your team, because they deserve it!
If you’re travelling to the event location in a big group, you can consider booking a Taxi that can fit all of your teammates — saves you money and everyone arrives together, on time.
