So what happened this week in GAFAnomics ?!

Adidas acquired Runtastic and Visa became Square’s major shareholder. With General Motors’s recent funding of Lyft, It seems there is a trend of big companies buying their way into the New Economy. Again.Curated by Louis Moullard

Netflix has just completed its migration to the cloud, relying only on Amazon Web Services. Another example of how platforms rely on GAFA’s infrastructures to become tech giants. Curated by Joachim Renaudin

Free Basics, Facebook’s service that provides free access to “basic” apps and website (read : simple purpose, easy to navigate, optimized for low-end smartphone) has been banned by India’s Telecom Regulators saying it basically provides a skewed and non-exhaustive access to the Internet. GAFA’s ambition to replace the Internet in developing countries may not be as easy as they thought. Curated by Louis Moullard

Quartz’s new app want to text you the news. Editors send you curated stories with GIFs and Emojis in an attempt to entertain as much as they inform you. Are invisible apps becoming the new form of media curation? Curated by Adrien Delepelaire

Facebook is testing SMS integration into Messenger to shift users away from default text messages. Is this attempt to become a one stop shop for mobile services going to definitely kill Good Old SMS? Curated by Joachim Renaudin
