Socially Distanced Fall Activities

At Marquette this semester, we have experienced more changes than we can count. However, we are finally experiencing one change that we can actually look forward to: the beautiful change of the leaves on the trees as we welcome fall! While it might not be safe to enjoy all of the usual fall activities, there are some that can still be done safely!

Here are some ideas:

Outdoor pumpkin carving or painting party

Spread out on blankets (six feet apart, of course!) with your friends and paint or carve pumpkins! If you want to get a little competitive, you can vote for your favorite pumpkin after everyone has completed their creation!

Go for a hike

Before going to school in Milwaukee, I would have never guessed how many beautiful hiking trails there are, and they are even prettier now with the changing leaves!

Some of my favorite trails are

The Seven Bridges Trail (https://county.milwaukee.gov/files/county/parks-department/Park-Maps/7bridgesmap.pdf)

Haven Woods State Forest (https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/parks/havenwoods)

The Milwaukee Rotary Centennial Arboretum (https://urbanecologycenter.org/our-branches/rotary-centennial-arboretum.html)

Attend an event hosted by Late Night Marquette

Late Night Marquette has been doing a great job of providing a bunch of different socially distanced activities! Some of my favorites include their trivia and bingo nights.

Have a picnic

Another fun idea is to have a picnic outside with friends. You could pack your own meal or order takeout from your favorite restaurant (this is a great way to support local business!) and enjoy the company of friends! Just make sure to bundle up!!
