Trauma

Have you ever felt like an alien with one eye and electrified hair? If you have, you’re not alone. Personal trauma can be a contributor to feeling like an alien what with the fear, anxiety, and depression, to name a few. I’ve felt like one almost my entire life, and it turns out that I have a lot of unprocessed traumatic memories dwelling inside me.

Just a short few months ago, July to be exact, I had to change therapists because I went on Medicare, after all, the therapist had to follow the rules and regulations of the system. So, my therapist referred me to an EMDR Specialist, John. Now, you and I both know that’s not his real name, but it’s going to have to do for the sake of the story.

I’ve had video sessions with John almost every week since last August and only the last three have been the actual practice of EMDR. You may be wondering what in the world we talked about during 4 months' time. A lot actually, take a look:
