“Light Workers” Need to Take a Stand

Dante didn’t actually say this — that the hottest places in hell are reserved for those who stay neutral in a crisis, but it’s still an evocative and apt statement, and Dante did envision such people being eternally tormented by wasps and hornets. Keeping quiet when wrong is being perpetrated isn’t actually staying neutral; it’s enabling the wrongdoers.

Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel is well known for pointing out, “Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.”

Even though this seems like common sense to me, I’ve noticed a distinct reticence amongst many people who consider themselves to be spiritual, or even “light workers” — those who are dedicated to bringing love and light to the world by aligning with higher consciousness.

I haven’t actually asked any of the ones I know why they aren’t speaking out against oppression, human and civil rights abuses, and blatant attacks on democracy, but I think I know their reasoning. Being “against” something only gives it more energy; the Age of Aquarius is upon us, and all this will pass away on its own as we focus on raising our vibration. What I can do to heal the world is to work on myself, etc., etc.
