Getting recruited with Ola Cabs right after MBA was no less than a dream come true for me. The drive to do well in life kept me moving up the career ladder. But, even the greenest of chapters have to end — the time had come to move on. I was keen on working for another good startup.

I’d be honest: I was not sure if I’ll find a company that could top how I felt at Ola. Then, I joined Hiver.

Hiver is a contemporary workplace in HSR Layout (that also doubles up as a time machine to an era gone by). Everyone’s friendly and welcoming. I was glad to be a part of a team where we help each other grow. It felt like a dream.

For the ones who don’t know what Hiver does: it’s a collaboration platform for Gmail and G Suite users. Hiver currently has 1000 customers in more than 30 countries across the world. It just raised a $4 million Series A. Things definitely look good! Given that the company is on a hiring spree of sorts, being in HR is both exciting and challenging.

My induction into the Hiver family

We don’t do traditional onboarding here. What I mean is that it’s not boring like they usually are. Of all things, I had fun during the induction.

And, when the founder himself takes the product onboarding training, you’re going to feel important — I did. :)

“Always deliver more than expected”, Larry Page’s quote came to my mind. After witnessing this ethos in every corner of the company, I knew I had to bring my A-game!

Post a few rounds of induction sessions, I was shown my new desk — bang opposite the HR head. Scary? Well, it could’ve been, but it was surprisingly pleasant. I was now part of the most fun-loving, crazy, and smart bunch of HR folks.

Oh, and have I mentioned the perks offered? A MacBook, free lunch, and a stocked pantry of healthy (and unhealthy!) snacks, monthly team outings, office parties, and medical insurance among others.

When we shared more than just food — the team lunch!

The most important part of every startup culture is its people. Most startups are a bunch of happy folks who get along with everyone.

And when you want people to get along, there’s no better way than good food. I had a gala time at the first team lunch. That’s when I really shared and became friends with my teammates.

New beginnings galore

Birthdays have a very special place in my heart. And Hiver made this one memorable.

When you have a plethora of gifting options at your disposal, not many would go to the lengths of doing a birthday card with handwritten wishes from everyone.

Old school — just the way birthdays should be celebrated.

Go Goa Gone!

While the smallest details of a new feature or the placement of a comma are never compromised, this bunch also knows how to celebrate a big victory!

With the recently received Series A round of funding, a 3 day trip to Goa filled with revelry was in the offering! Only 3 words come close to describing it — Memories. Madness. Magic.

It’s been 3 roller coaster months and I wouldn’t have it any other way. And this is just the beginning! Just imagining what lies ahead for Hiver and myself gets me all charged up!

Are you as excited as I am?

Come, drop a Hi. We are hiring!
