How many trends did you follow this week? How many of them will matter in five-ten years from now?
While there are other definitions of the word Trend, for the sake of this article I’d like to focus on the fact that a trend is fleeting.
With the growth of the internet and various social media platforms — we seem to be in a constant flux of new trends every few hours. They vanish faster than they appear.
For the past decade or so, I’ve watched my life go by because my attention was focused on every fleeting trend.
Trends tend to overtake your life. They provide fodder for conversations across age groups, interests, genders, situations, social setups, etc.
When you are younger, you feel peer pressure to stay up-to-date with all kinds of trends so that you are considered cool by your peers.
However, as adults, very few people learn to shed this habit of chasing trends.
