Facebook — Not Too Bad

Discussing bad aspects about Facebook is quite easy. Nobody talks about the advantages of it. It’s still criticism, even when you commend it positively. So it’s not gonna be another article about how bad Facebook can be, what can happen to people who use it, or how you loose your privacy when you spread photos… I will talk about the good issues on Facebook! That its basic concept was/is actually a good one…

Obviously we have got the fact that you can be linked to people living on the other side of the world, so you can keep long-distanced relations, but as well to people living close to you. Further on you can share any information with others, post statements about your day, about your food, whatever you like to share. Moreover you can get information about your friends, about things you like, but also proper information as important news, what has happened recently. With the “like — button” you can create your own dashboard with pictures, videos, statements of whatever you’re interested in.

Furthermore, it is a good possibility to tell your opinion, also on political issues. It’s good for forming groups who are interested in changing the current political situation. Laying open your attitude can lead you to others who have similar thoughts. Lots of younger people inform themselves via Facebook, get information from groups over there, or even change their opinions. Facebook is a good way to confront these youngsters with important news, because they spend so much time on that platform (I am including myself here).

Also in uni we can benefit from forming groups, to be connected, when we discuss uni stuff. Sports Clubs and organisations can use it to be linked to their members.

So you see, it’s not just bad using Facebook, we all have registered to it for a reason. And it’s actually pretty obvious to see the good bits of it! Of course, there are risks. We should be aware of comments/photos etc. we share with Facebook, that if you once have uploaded them, they stay on the internet forever. But I would even say that it doesn’t have more risks than any other online platform.
