Kanzlerkandidaten and No One Cares

Now that the german elections are around the corner. The News Media is dominated by the question of who are going to be the next Kanzlerkandidaten for their respective parties. What is mainly in the news is the question which candidate the SPD is going to choose.

So the news Media is keeping rehasing the same question every day. Is it Gabriel? Is it Gabriel? Is it Gabriel? There two things I want to comment on. Firstly, why does the media always investigate a non story and why does it do so two months in a row. Why does the media not simply wait until the candidate is chosen and then talk about that. If a journalist wants to speculate about that, fine, he is of course allowed to do so but please do it once and properly and do it when it is relevant.

Secondly, who cares? If Gabriel is going to be the candidate, so be it but no voter cares for Gabriel and that is due to the fact that he has nothing for what he stands for. Like almost all the SPD (and basically all other parties except, unfortunately, the Afd) is representative of nothing. I have never heard of any particular beliefs he holds, or any real progressive changes he wants to implent.

I only know, that he is the head of the SPD and that seems to be enough for a lot of people to consider him a candidate. Well, it is not enough for me and I am pretty sure that is not enough for a lot of people. It could be Gabriel or the Ice Cream Man. Without a real programme, then What difference does it make?
