Keep Rhinos Horny and Promote Settlements on the Mars and have your voice heard while you do it

Leave the world better than you found it when you entered it. Many wise people, one of them Lord Baden-Powell, founder of the Boy Scouts Movement, have said this before and it is often one of these inspirational quotes you find on pictures of sunsets, paintings of green meadows with fog hanging over the fields and snaps of nature that need no filter.

But how can you help to give your share in making the world a better place and helping people when it is only you, only one little voice in this chaotic mess of sounds and noise?

Well, 1 +1 is 2, and 1+ 2 is 3 an if you add one more, and one more and (continue this until you have a beautiful number with many zeroes that is large enough to demonstrate what I mean) so on, so if you want to change something, seacrh for people to help you tackle the issue together. This works especially well if you are someone who already has people’s support, who has his or her voice heard and had a certain following behind him or her -like an actor starring in a TV show praised by critics or some other celebrity.

With them, there seems to be a new trend that developed over the past years and especially with the rise of twitter that gave (so-called) celebrities the chance to directly engage with thousands of people at the same time in a casual, text message kind of way. So the rise of modern media helped enhance the influence of celebrities on their fans and their followers -and they have by now perfected the way to 1. make their voice heard and 2. achieve to bring their followers together to fight for a cause.

Take Emma Watson for example. Best known as Hermione Granger, she lacks none of her famous on-screen heroines spirit who fights for the rights of house elves (remember B.E.L.F.E.R.?) by also standing up for an important cause in real life -especially for women. After she launched her famous #HeForShe campaign as a Goodwill Ambassador for UN Women, her twitter feed was overrun with people using the hashtag in support of her first call to weapons (not literally) to fight gender discrimination thus bringing attention to the topic by many people with many voices being heard.

Another way to have an impact and to help bring people together in order to handle different issues is by starting new campaigns that are directly targeted towards a fandom that actors/singers/famous people might have. Take this website for example where you will not only find individual clothing/accesoires/what have you that you can buy like its any other online shop. Represent.com is also one of the major places for celebrities to cooperate with and to design special items to collect money to donate for non-governmental organizations such as To Write Love on Her Arms or to fight the killing of rhinos for their horns or to get funds for your research institute that aims to promote the settlement of Mars (I’m serious here. Remember famous Buzz Aldrin, travel buddy of Neil Armstrong and second man to set foot on the moon?) or to tackle whatever issue you might want to tackle.

Different from crowd-funding, where people donate and then in the end help someone to accomplish their dream, here people can buy something, get something, and still have their money be a donation -and, this way, still have their voices heard and their actions change the world even by only buying a shirt that quotes your favourite line from your favourite show.
