No means No!

When a woman says NO to a man it means NO! A man has to accept it. Otherwise he makes himself guilty of sexual abuse or rape. There is no other way to say it.

But when in June 2012 the German model Gina-Lisa Lohfink brought two men to court accusing them of having used knockout drops in order to make her “tame” and then filming her during the sexual intercourse against her will, the court decided that there was not enough proof for Lohfink’s testimony — even though the video material was available after it had been offered to the media and had been clicked over a million times.

However, instead of punishing the two men, the court punished the victim: Lohfink was given a penalty of 24,000 euros due to false suspicion. A penalty she certainly objected.

How is it possible that the woman is punished for being raped?

In my opinion the court clearly was affected by Lohfink’s outward appearance and her past public behaviour.

But:
1. Lohfink’s chintzy style and her need for public attention does not justify the behaviour of these men.
2. Lohfink is no sex doll but a human being with human rights.

What I ask myself now is:
1. Does a woman has to offer personal injuries in order to proof a rape?
2. What does a woman have to say instead of NO in order to make clear that she does not want sexual intercourse?
3. Is there a universal definition of rape — some kind of check list that shows woman when they are allowed to feel raped?

Lohfink’s case lead to a debate concerning the reformation of the German rape law which hopefully will be changed 8th July. Until then the model is fighting her battle for feminism. The next day of her trial is 27th June. Let us hope that the court gets sensible!
