On Terror

Yesterday, the US State department has reversed the refusal of entry, which was settled by the Trump administration. People from 7 states including Iraq, Syria, Libya, Somalia, Jemez, Sudan and Iran, were no longer allowed to enter the United States. According to Trump and his staff these countries are hotbeds of global terrorism and thus, in order to guarantee homeland security, any citizen holding a passport of one of the countries is considered a possible threat to the USA. Trump was and still is criticized harshly by his own citizens, his own state department and by dozens of foreign politicians. This went too far and hence this judgment was overturned but the issue is not yet fully resolved.

Anyway, one comes to wonder why it was decided in the first place. And so far, there is no rational explanation besides the obvious killer argument; Terrorism! Apart from the fact that people seem to realize that the threat of terror does not justify any measure whatsoever, the question is why Saudi-Arabia, the Emirates, Egypt and Lebanon are not included in the list. Ultimately, these are the countries from which the alleged terrorists responsible for 9/11 did come from. Probably, Trump needs to avoid friction with the Saudis and the Emirates because of business reasons. But one does not exactly know since there is no genuine depiction of the motifs. Whatever, so without further ado I will come to crucial point.

Everybody seems to be oblivious to the fact, that there is a lot of terrorism and the USA are the most ruthless of all. People and politicians get worked up about this random act of Trump, which is the right thing to do by the way, but the obvious question is not addressed. The question is why do the western people and governments feel threatened by acts of terror. One could say, because there is terror, true. Though one could also draw the conclusion that the terrorist attacks in Germany, France and the States are merely an act of resistance and a reaction to the terror the west is and has been spreading in countries such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria and Libya.

The war on terror was sparked by the 9/11 attacks, two planes destroyed 3 buildings, so strange. 3 weeks later the war in Afghanistan commenced, after more than 10 years nothing has changed for the better, the people suffer, the Taliban are as strong as ever and nothing has been won. Shortly after, Iraq was invaded illegally. Saddam just did not have weapons of mass destruction the result is the same; hundreds of thousands of casualties and a country destroyed. The same holds true for Libya, the flying ban over Libya was simply reinterpreted as a regime change. I could go on about illegal wars for a dozen pages more. The problem is, however, that this is not news to any citizen with the slightest interest in foreign affairs. Rather this information is general education. We, the ordinary citizens, are fully aware that our governments are waging wars for no reasons but, ultimately, resources, money and power. And we do nothing about it. We are completely fooled by our media which sells the war on terrorism as war for democracy. This is complete insanity and we and our representatives should not protest Trump on going just a little to far, instead we should protest ourselves, our own government and any war abroad, because there is no justification whatsoever to invade or bomb any country.
