Pray for….

Within the past week, France and Turkey has suffered damage from the truck running over 84 people in France and the coup in Turkey killing and arresting hundreds. There are now Facebook posts about praying for Nice and everyone coming together after this horrendous event. I have yet to see a pray for Turkey or at least, some sympathy for what happened from both American and European people on social media.

But what about Turkey? Bangladesh? What about everyone else?

A few weeks ago, ISIS boomed Dhaka, Bangladesh and apparently, there will be more on the way. But there was not much social media coverage about this attack.

from the Internet

When France was boomed last year, Ankara was boomed a month earlier and Beirut was boomed on the same day as the attack on Paris. All three happened in the most bustling part of the city. All three were covered but we all cared the most for Paris. Beautiful Paris. But, what about Ankara and Beirut? There were barely any flags on Facebook, barely any posters saying Pray for Ankara or Beirut and heck, even barely any, I am Ankara or Beirut. Ankara and Beirut was basically “dead” to the news scene on social media. Paris took over.

What is so important about one that the others must not be cared about? How is Paris more important than other places? How is Europe more important than Asia or Africa?

I never understood it. I still don’t.
