Syria: Another incorporated country on the list of the US? Noam Chomsky’s propaganda model.
In the current world media Syria is always on the front page. We see disturbing pictures of bombarded syrian cities, for example Palmyra or Aleppo. We hear and read about people protesting against the regime of Bashar Al-Assad who is targeting innocent people, hospitals and so on. The president is presented in western media as the dictator who is responsible for the complete destruction of the country.
In those two links we get many information about the brutality of the syrian government. We see people calling for european and american interference. But I hardly read or saw any western videos or articles presenting the other side of the war. So I did some research about president Al Assad and Russia and here is what I found:
The russian source describes how the anti-russia and anti-Assad media makes the syrian government (and its collaborator russia) responsible for the many killings of the supposedly harmless rebels.
In the Liberty Report Ron Paul describes how the US used syrians, who used to demonstrate peacefully against Assad at the beginning of the Arabic spring in 2011, and transformed those demonstrations into a pseudo war for democracy and peace. The US and also Europe have not only created a dangerous civil war in the middle east, but have also empowered terroristic groups as ISIL and Al-Qaeda. In fact, we do not read anything of the pro-government demonstrations or anything about the impressions and attitudes of syrians.

The internet is full of videos of syrians trying to prevent their country of the superpower USA. People are seeking peace and religious freedom.
Concerning Chomsky and his propaganda model I found this interesting idea:
“Als herausragendes Beispiel, das Chomsky selbst sehr häufig angeführt hat, gilt die bereits aufgeführte Dichotomie (Ungleichgewicht) in der Berichterstattung über Gräueltaten in Kambodscha (unter Herrschaft der Roten Khmer) auf der einen und in Osttimor auf der anderen Seite. Beides fand Ende der 1970er Jahre statt, und beides wurde nachträglich als Völkermord bewertet[3]. In Kambodscha waren die kommunistischen Roten Khmer an der Macht, und Indonesien, den USA freundlich gesinnt, besetzte die ehemalige portugiesische Kolonie Osttimor mit der Begründung die Machtübernahme der erstarkenden FRETILIN-Partei, die nach Angaben Indonesiens kommunistisch orientiert war, zu verhindern. Neun Tage nachdem die FRETILIN die Unabhängigkeit Osttimors ausgerufen hatte, marschierte Indonesien in Osttimor ein. Invasion und Besatzung kosteten nach Untersuchungen der Empfangs-, Wahrheits- und Versöhnungskommission von Osttimor 183.000 Menschen das Leben, fast einem Drittel der ursprünglich 600.000 Einwohner Osttimors. In Kambodscha starben rund 50.000 bis 300.000 Menschen direkt an den US-Luftangriffen während des Vietnamkriegs, etwa 1,7 Millionen durch die spätere Herrschaft der Roten Khmer.
Chomsky und Herman hatten beobachtet, dass die New York Times über die Gräueltaten in Kambodscha deutlich öfter berichtet hatte als über die indonesischen in Osttimor. Mit Unterstützung von Organisationen wie Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting (FAIR), der Herman später auch beitrat, sammelten die Autoren dazu Fakten, um ihre These zu unterstützen. Dies gelang etwa durch Zählung der Berichte und durch Vergleich der bedruckten Fläche, die dem jeweiligen Konflikt gewidmet waren. Über die Ereignisse in Kambodscha „nach dem Vietnamkrieg“ druckte die New York Times insgesamt 1175 Zoll (29,84 m) Zeitungs-Spaltenlänge, über jene in Osttimor nur 70 Zoll (1,78 m).”
