As I find it increasingly difficult to come up with a topic to write about, with so many blog posts already written in the course of this seminar, I decided to dedicate this one to briefly introducing you to The Bugle. This satirical radio podcast has got everything to offer for someone who has always wanted Jan Böhmermann and Oli Schulz to be a bit more British (and funny). It was created by John Oliver and Andy Zaltzman in 2007, which means you have 9 years worth of podcast to listen to. They discuss and make fun of a lot of stuff.

As it is “an audio newspaper for a visual world” nearly all of it is old news to you, naturally. Nevertheless, it is both informative and hilarious in a way you only know from Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (what a coincidence). And don’t you think it can be soothing to bathe in nostalgia, reminiscing all the bad news of the last decade? No, me neither, but it is entertaining enough to be worth listening to and it might put some things in a new perspective.

Unfortunately, John Oliver quit The Bugle three weeks ago, meaning Zaltzman has to continue alone from September on. You can listen to their last episode together, as well as any other episode on Soundcloud

or by using the podcast app on your iPhone, if you have one.

I can not recommend it highly enough, especially using it as a sort of lullaby.
