iPhone X Uses the iPhone 8 Size Class

Last week we were graced with iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and X. Everyone was psyched to get a peek at the iPhone with a plus sized screen in a regular sized body. But not so fast. Over the past few days I’ve been digesting the fact that the iPhone X uses the compact size class. This means that it doesn’t use the same version of iOS that the iPhone 8 Plus uses. This also means that there won’t be a landscape home screen, there won’t be two columned landscape apps, and there won’t be any other plus interface features on the X. Plus iPhone lovers might want to consider the iPhone 8 Plus instead of the iPhone X if they truly like carrying a miniature iPad in their pockets. I’m personally very disappointed by this omission and it’s actually making me consider sticking with the 8 Plus once I get it this Friday. I’ve been waiting to return to a plus iPhone since my 6 Plus. Both my 6s and 7 have been the standard size. I suspect that Apple may change their mind and release a software update that adds the plus style features. Either that or they really are planning to release a plus version of the X design in the next few years. We’ll just have to wait and see.
