“Marie Kondo” Your Marketing
We all know that Spring is synonymous with renewal, transformation, growth, and letting go of unhelpful items, habits, or thoughts as a way of cleansing.
Your role at work should be no different — and we want to help you “Marie Kondo” your marketing, to make sure you get off to a fresh start for Spring.
1) If it doesn’t bring you joy — let it go!
We all strive to be amazing at everything we do, and sometimes too much so. In the world of marketing, there are a thousand and one ways to drive more growth, greater innovation, and better customer experiences — but you don’t have to do it all. More often than not, a focus on providing quality marketing campaigns is more important than the volume of campaigns you produce. So, if a certain type of marketing doesn’t bring you joy, don’t be afraid to let it go in order to focus on other marketing initiatives.
Ways to reduce your “marketing” clutter:
- Automate, automate, automate!
- Hyper-focus on the customer experience — if it doesn’t provide a great customer experience, let it go!
- Clean up old and ineffective marketing habits (clunky emails and newsletters, I’m looking at you)
2) Refresh and Renew
A little spring cleaning goes a long way, right? Make sure your brand is in tip-top shape by refreshing your presence on your web page, social handles and more! The last thing a customer wants to see is outdated information, a lack of presence, or a brand that doesn’t POP. The name of the game is Customer Experience — here are some of the easy ways to keep it fresh and fun:
Refresh your AppExchange listing
- Good things come in small packages; so now is the time to package up your brand in a clear and concise way! The AppExchange consulting listing is where customers can virtually experience who you are and what you do, whether it is industry expertise or a killer demo. Your future customers will better understand why they should work with you — what better way to get street cred?
Renew the customer experience
- Ever wondered what it felt like for your customers to receive your 12-page company update email? If you haven’t, then you should! Step into the shoes of your customer to reimagine their experience. What would excite you? What would entice you to buy more? What values would you identify with? If it isn’t clear to you then it isn’t clear to your customers.
Your brand is what you make it!
- Customers can’t see what goes on behind the scenes of your amazing company, all they have to go by is what you SHOW them. Show them what you have to offer through fun social media campaigns, thought leadership, and by giving back. The more vocal you are about your values and your differentiators, the better.
3) Transform and Grow
When we think about what it takes to grow at Salesforce, we need to understand what didn’t work so well, and why.
Understanding campaigns that didn’t perform well, or the “why” behind sending your 12-page company update email, will help guide you as you evolve. Instead of getting rid of that long-winded company update, transform it into something new altogether.
Events — learning from mistakes
- We’ve all had events that seem to go wrong at every turn — but equipping yourself with a toolset can make all the difference. Transform your events with the Event in a Box to keep you focused from conception to execution
Digital Ads — dull and low traffic
- Maybe you don’t have a graphic designer or a way to promote your ads online. Don’t repeat the same type of advertising mistakes with the hope for a different response. Transform your ads with color, fun graphics, and actionable CTAs (calls to action).
Social Media — what to post?
- Sometimes it is hard to know what to post when there is so much noise. What are the key values, or wins that you want to communicate? What are you saying in your company update email that would be snappier on social? Using social to transform the way you communicate to customers will help grow your brand awareness and your credibility in the community at large.
