How Salesforce Partners Can Get Access to Salesforce Financial Services Cloud Orgs

A woman with long, dark hair sits at a desk with a laptop and coffee.

As a Salesforce partner, there are various kinds of Salesforce org environments you typically need to serve a specific purpose during your application lifecycle. This article lists the different kinds of Salesforce org environments that are Financial Services Cloud (FSC) enabled and that partners have access to.

Pre-configured Public Trial Org

This is a pre-configured org with Financial Services Cloud (FSC) installed and already configured. It also has relevant sample data pre-populated.

The publicly available link to the free pre-configured trial is here.

This org has 236 features fully configured with sample data including:

  • Financial Services Cloud
  • Experience Cloud for Financial Services
  • Tableau CRM for Financial Services
  • Salesforce Scheduler
  • Digital Process Automation
  • Feedback Management
  • Shield

Best used for: Demos that you want to present with pre-loaded test data.

Note: A UNIQUE email address is required for signup. The trial org is a 30-day trial and requires contacting support to extend. The trial org is Enterprise Edition, which does not allow for the creation of managed packages.

Unconfigured Base Trial Org

The publicly available link to the free unconfigured trial is here.
Note: A UNIQUE email address is required for signup.

This is an “empty org”. It’s similar to the pre-configured public trail org mentioned above, but it does not come with any configurations and has no test data. This is a good option if you need an FSC org for testing your partner app and you want to create custom configurations around your app.

Best used for: Custom demos that you want to configure from scratch and present with your own test data.

Partner Development Orgs

First-Generation Packaging Partner Developer Edition Orgs
A managed package (first generation, 1GP) that can be uploaded on AppExchange and distributed to customers, can only be created on a Developer Edition Org. A Partner Developer Edition (PDE) org is a Developer Edition org with higher limits and additional licenses provided for partners to help them kickstart their app development. These PDE orgs can be spun up via the Environment Hub that all partners should have access to in their Partner Business Org.

For your benefit, we allow you to spin up a PDE with Financial Services Cloud licenses pre-provisioned in it. You would still have to install the FSC packages and configure them. You can access an FSC PDE org by following the instructions in the doc that’s linked on the Salesforce Industries section of the AppExchange ISV Partner Hub. Click on the ‘demo org’ link under the Getting Started > Financial Services (FSC) section. Refer to the FSC Installation and Configuration Steps section in this article below to get started with your setup.

Best used for: Developing and packaging a first-generation app built on FSC.

Note: You need a partnership agreement to have access to the partner tools mentioned. A UNIQUE email address is required for signup.

Scratch Orgs and Second-Generation Packaging Org
The scratch org is a source-driven and disposable deployment of Salesforce code and metadata. These are used for second-generation packaging (2GP) which is the latest and more efficient way of packaging ISV apps. The biggest advantage 2GP has over 1GP is that 2GP allows you to create multiple packages within the same namespace which then makes it easier to code-share and manage.

Refer to this doc to understand how to create FSC scratch orgs and second-generation managed packages.

Best used for: Developing and packaging a second-generation app built on FSC.

Note: You can also optionally refer to this repo has some sample scripts and sample data that you can use to get started.

FSC Industry Demo Org (IDO)

This is a specialized org created by the Salesforce SE team to help you kick-start your FSC learning and demo journey.
The org has all the configurations, demo data, and sample demo scripts to help you learn the various workflows and use-cases.

To get access, go to the Partner Learning Camp, (login with your partner community credentials) and make sure first to enroll and finish the Simple Demo Org Fundamentals course. After completing the course you can see the ‘Demo Org’ Tab

Best used for: Quick demos that you can present by following out-of-the-box demo scripts and pre-loaded data. You can add more configurations and follow your own demo script if required.

Note: UNIQUE email address required for signup.

Pre-Release Org

If you are not familiar with what a pre-release org is, it allows you to get early access to new features. You can find more information on the Salesforce Release Notes when the pre-release signups are open or stay in the know by joining the Release Readiness Trailblazers Community.

These pre-release orgs however, do not have FSC enabled. We have a specialized pre-release org that you can spin up to get a preview of all the upcoming FSC release product updates. You can sign up for that here. These orgs are also fully configured.

Best used for: Testing out new features and ensuring your partner solutions work well with the new upcoming release.

FSC Installation and Configuration Steps

  1. If you do not have any FSC licenses or permission sets provisioned in the org, log a support case to get those enabled in your org.
  2. Check if Person Accounts is already enabled in your org. If not, in the same case you have logged for licenses, or in a new case, request Person Accounts to be enabled.
  3. In your org setup, confirm if you have the FSC packages installed under ‘Installed Packages’. If not, you need to install them from the steps mentioned in the Installation Guide. You will install:
  • FSC Managed Package
  • FSC Unmanaged Extension Package

4. Configure your Financial Services Cloud Org. Please read and follow the instructions in the FSC guides below.
