I have always been fascinated by the idea of a business ‘ecosystem,’ and the concept of an open marketplace of solutions that worked with one another. Today, the ecosystem around our platform is one of Salesforce’s biggest multipliers, and a huge part of what brings the Salesforce vision to life. We continue to extend our capabilities, including enhancing and bringing our own technologies together to deliver a more productive and seamless experience to our customers. Most recently, we announced Live Apps for Quip, as well as the beta launch of our Quip Collaboration Platform.

Rethinking teamwork

Since Quip’s launch, customers such as Rich Smith, CEO and Co-Founder of Axon, have been rethinking teamwork. “Quip really fits the way we share and get alignment around ideas,” said Rich.

This productivity mindset shift is exciting. It helps our teams become stronger, which is crucial to me. My personal favorite part of my job is my team.

I’ve been collaborating alongside Kevin Gibbs, Co-Founder and CEO of Quip, to announce, that as of today, the Salesforce AppExchange is filled with brand new third-party Live Apps for Quip. “These Live Apps are built by some of the most innovative companies across multiple verticals. This means that teams across your entire organization — sales, marketing, product, customer support — have access to powerful tools embedded directly inside the world’s most advanced cloud documents,” said Kevin.

Kevin and team have been working with partners to build innovative new Live Apps for Quip, and today we’re making those apps available to Quip customers on the Salesforce AppExchange with more to come. “Companies and developers worldwide can begin building on the Quip Platform — as IBM, Google, and Dropbox have already begun to do — and add their solutions to the world’s largest enterprise cloud marketplace,” shared Kevin.

Collaboration on the Salesforce platform enables all partners to hone in on and play to their specific strengths. This not only makes good business sense, it’s also in the best interest of the customer — which is why I’m always thrilled to see examples of AppExchange partners teaming up and getting it right.

Building on the Quip Platform

In a complex technology landscape where customers use multiple solutions to solve a single problem, working together is a necessity if you want to provide the best possible experience to customers. “With the Live Apps API, any developer can build a custom Live App to be included in the Salesforce AppExchange. Building a Live App takes only a few lines of JavaScript, and it comes with a ton of powerful features,” said Kevin.

Live Apps automatically support real-time co-editing and comments, so you can be immediately collaborative. It’s automatically mobile; working on every device, whether you’re online or offline. And perhaps most importantly to our partners, it opens up a whole new world of customers. Integrate any service with Quip and reach millions of people already on the Quip platform.

Ecosystems also offer a unique opportunity for partners to go to market together, supporting personalized and efficient sales cycles, catered toward solving complex customer challenges. “The largest change we have seen over our last 10 years of working on the AppExchange is the number of partners working together throughout the ecosystem,” says Brian Walsh, CEO of CodeScience. “This is truly the embodiment of Salesforce Ohana: partners collaborating to solve customers’ needs.”

Partners Building Today

I’m thrilled to share that a number of companies are innovating and building with Quip, right now. Here’s a look at some of these partner apps.

  • Altify Relationship Map: Create org charts, visualize business connections, and let Altify help you navigate deals without ever leaving your Quip docs.
  • Vidyard: Add Vidyard videos to your docs, or create new ones from right inside Quip. Optimize them, add commentary, and prepare them for distribution anywhere.
  • Draw.io Diagram: Chart complex processes and workflows, draw up Gantt charts, and even design infographics with this powerful graphing-and-drawing tool.
  • Lucidchart: Bring the power of flowcharts into Quip. Collaborate with your team on workflows, wireframes, and business processes — all in real time, and all synced with your Lucidchart account.
  • Taskray: The original Salesforce-native project management solution has come to Quip. Now you and your team can share, track, and update your Taskray projects in real time, and in the context of your actual work.
  • Smartsheet: Get visibility into your work by bringing real-time Smartsheet dashboards and live reports into Quip docs.

It’s time to take advantage of these new capabilities, such as Quip Live Apps, and build. To learn more about building on the Quip Platform, visit our Developer Site.
