A lot of things have changed since the beginning of the year. And much more change is likely to come. Covid-19 made all of us take time to be introspective and to reflect about the frailty of life. Betting on what we really wanna do never made more sense. And if starting a company or building that product you’ve been postponing, is what you wanna do, we wanna be here for you.

For the last couple of months we’ve been working to make Upframe more personal and goal oriented. Here are some of the things we worked on:

Book video calls without stressing out about time zones

Now, Upframe detects timezone changes automatically. This makes scheduling meetings easier. You don’t have to worry about where in the world someone is because the time slots made available are already displayed on your own timezone. Find your current time zone and make changes manually in your account settings.

Check your time zone in the account settings.

Find people who can help you explore different business models or build a company without losing your day job

Until now, our search was too focused on skills. Our categories: ‘Product’, ‘Design’ and ‘Software’ helped you find what you could already find through the search bar and the tagging system. We want to help you achieve your goals. Every mentor featured in the list is someone we worked with and someone we trust. Our first step towards a product that is more personal and goal-oriented.

Conversations: Take your time to frame a challenge and follow-up with a mentor/mentee asynchronously

Until now, sending a message through Upframe felt too impersonal. After reaching out to someone, there was no way to know for sure if they had received your message because there was no visual feedback.

To make it worse, when you received an email notification, there was no way to learn more about the sender or her product. Keeping track of conversations and following up was also challenging because our email inboxes can easily get cluttered. We changed that:

Conversations: Take your time to frame a challenge and follow-up with a mentor more easily.

Now, you can take your time to frame a challenge and give more context to a mentor before a video call takes place. To make sure you get the most out of it.

This also means you have a place where you can give and receive feedback in a written way. Or share links and resources as a video call is taking place.

We introduced threads built around topics so you can keep your conversation focused on a specific challenge and go back to it when you need to.

Conversations are built around threads or topics, as we like to call them.

Get warm introductions and your teammates involved

Sometimes, reaching out to someone you don’t know might feel daunting. We wanted to make it more personal so we introduced group conversations.

If you’d like your cofounders to join a video call and get mentored collectively, now there’s a way to do so. You can start a group conversation and select multiple people from the get go.

Get startup advice from your pocket

Introducing messaging also meant it was time to invest on making our mobile navigation better, to make sure you can find someone who can give you startup advice and follow up directly from your phone. Conversations work just like magic.

Mobile Navigation: Get startup advice from your pocket.

And that’s a wrap. We’re 2 people building a product that is growing and that has now passed the +300 people threshold. I wake up every day feeling like the happiest person alive and I cannot wait to keep surprising you and helping you get anything you need in order to turn your startup dream into reality.

💋 With a lot of love,

Malik from Upframe
