VentureFriends in London: Greek tech ecosystem update and community get together
We know there is a strong Greek tech community in London and we believe that it wants to be connected and stay informed about what is happening in the Greek tech ecosystem.
There are Greek founders who first launched their startup in London, and founders who expanded their operations in London after launching in Greece. There is also a significant number of Greeks in tech who chose to move to London in order to pursue opportunities as engineers, marketers etc. at tech companies there.
The last few years the Greek startup ecosystem has greatly progressed. The recent notable successes of Taxibeat, Workable, e-food, Abzorba, Avocarrot, Innoetics attest to that. Furthermore there are currently more than 200 active startups and c. 2k people working at them in Greece, while at least 10 up and coming startups generate more than €1M ARR. Technology enabling disruption of “traditional” business models, Greek crisis, and increased availability of capital provide a conducive environment for Greek tech entrepreneurs.
At VentureFriends(VF), having supported more than 20 startups since our launch in 2016 , we are clearly very bullish about the potential of Greek founders starting their company either in Greece or abroad.
Additionally we believe an ecosystem grows when its members are informed and more connected so that they are able to receive and provide support within that network.
On those notes, VF is happy to host an event and discuss the evolution of and the opportunities ahead for the Greek tech ecosystem both in Greece and in London. Apart from sharing our own thoughts, you will hear from the great people @ Weengs and Convibo which started up in London and Nannuka which recently launched in London after its success in Greece.
Join us for some upbeat, informative content but also exploit the opportunity to mingle with other Londoner Greeks in tech. We know how hustling and bustling London can be and that is why this is a great opportunity to meet up, connect with relevant people and grab a beer.
Cheers mates :)
